A Brandon woman’s hilarious photo has caught the attention of the folks at National Geographic.

Mary McGowan captured a squirrel with its tiny arms fully extended and its tiny mouth wide open. It looks like it’s trying to stop something bad from happening.

Along with thousands of entries, the photo was submitted to National Geographic for the magazine’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards and McGowan was chosen as one of the 41 finalists.

“Stop right there! This squirrel in Florida is giving you the right to remain silent,” National Geographic wrote in a caption of the photo.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards were founded by wildlife photographers and enthusiasts Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks. The competition is currently in its fourth year.
