PLAQUEMINE, LA. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) Former LSU football player and current Miami Dolphin Davon Godchaux is making sure families in need have a meal on Thanksgiving.

“Lots of people forget about where they come from, but Davon has never forgotten where he comes from,” Godchaux’s former substitute teacher Marcella Butler said.

Godchaux, Sheriff Stassi and Attorney Tony Clayton reached out to Iberville Schools, EMS and other community leaders to find worth recipients.

Around 300 turkeys, sides, and fixings were handed out at today’s event, including a box for Butler.

“Davon is such a lovely, lovely child, and I just thank him for thinking of us,” Butler said. “You never know what life is going to bring, I never thought I would be one of the people that need the help.”

“It kind of warms your heart that even though he is in Miami playing professional football, he hasn’t forgotten where he came from,” Butler said.

Godchaux was not in attendance, but facetimed during parts of the event.
