BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Alisha Disotell, of Baton Rouge was recently released from prison after Governor John Bel Edwards commuted her 30-year sentence.

On Thursday morning, the former prisoner is going to receive a special surprise thanks to a non-profit organization called Freedom Rides.

Disotell is “the first recipient of the Freedom Rides vehicle-earning program, according to Freedom Rides.

What that means is Disotell is going to walk away from this surprise with a new car.

The surprise is happening from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on December 2.

Disotell will be joined by the founder of Freedom Rides, Benito Castro, Secretary Jimmy Le Blanc of DPS&C and Joanna Acocella, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Securus Technologies.

A representative from Parole Project is also expected to attend the event outside of Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections.
