Suspect arrested after BRPD officer shot in leg a block from LSU

Update as of August 6, 2019:

The Baton Rouge Police Department has released the name of the suspect accused of shooting a BRPD officer.

24-year old Clifton Gerard Eames was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with 3 counts of Attempt 1st Degree Murder on a Police Officer and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

Baton Rouge Police Sergeant Ralph Walker, a 22 year veteran, was shot in the leg after responding to a domestic dispute dispatched call.

This investigation is still ongoing and more details are forthcoming.


Update: A Baton Rouge Police Officer was shot in the leg after responding to a domestic dispatched call at 948 Geranium Street just before 8:00pm Monday.

Uniformed Officers arrived on scene and were investigating the incident when a suspect fired a shot, striking the officer in the leg.

An individual believed to be responsible for the shooting was apprehended without incident.

The BRPD Officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This shooting incident is still under investigation.

It happened just after 7:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Geranium Street, just a block away from LSU’s campus.

A Baton Rouge Police officer was injured and taken to an area hospital following shots fired in the 900 block of Geranium Street, just a block away from LSU’s campus.

According to officials, the initial call came in around 7:58pm and that a reported domestic incident led to shots fired.
