Franklin Foil’s team says, he trusted the recount process

“This is a very laborious process.”

Six hours and thousands of ballots counted.

“It’s all done by hand, hand count of the paper ballots and it takes a long time to go through.”‘

District 16’s Senate race is now between just two candidates, one republican and one democrat.


“Beverly Thompson is a fine lady, I’ve gotten to know her, but, I think district 16 will keep historically republican” said Attorney Jack Whitehead.

Watching boxes being cut open and each ballot being counted by hand. Franklin Foil’s team said, what happened today truly showcased democracy.

“It worked properly, there’s integrity in Louisiana in the voting process and today, we saw that.”

Neither candidates with a stake in the recount was present, but, their representatives say they had faith in the process.

“Franklin Foil respects the process and the outcome.”

Thursday’s results showed both candidates votes fluctuated. Representative Steve Carter lost three votes and Representative Foil gained one. A representative with the Clerk of Court’s office said, changes like those are common.

“Anything in an election can change, it is hand marked paper ballots that is the part that can change in a recount.”
