Free COVID-19 testing, household supplies giveaway happening Saturday in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, La(BRPROUD)- CareSouth Medical and Dental together with State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle and other community partners are hosting a free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site and household supplies and mask giveaway on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We’re excited to be a part of this great partnership to provide the COVID-19 test to more residents, especially those who are most vulnerable,” said Matthew Valliere, CareSouth CEO.  

The event is happening at Living Faith Christian Center, 6375 Winbourne Avenue, in Baton Rouge. CareSouth staff will be conducting the testing for up to 300 people. You must be tested first in order to receive the supplies. You must pre-register to get the test. Residents will stay in their cars for the testing and the supplies. No walkups are allowed. No more than 4 people per car for testing.

“This is a great event and another opportunity to give back to our community,” said state representative C. Denise Marcelle.

The event is being co-sponsored by Attorney Gordon McKernan, Community Activist Jamie Robinson, Living Faith, and the Southern University Ag Center. Rep. Marcelle, Gordon and Robinson are donating the supplies and masks. 

The testing is open to anyone ages 12 and up with or without symptoms and with and without insurance. No doctor’s order required. There are no out-of-pocket expenses. If you have insurance, your insurance will be billed. If you don’t have insurance, CareSouth will cover the cost.
