BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Funeral services were announced for long-time Baton Rouge Fire Captain William “CJ” Sanders.
Sanders died Sunday, Nov. 5, after battling with cancer. It is believed the type of cancer was caused by his work as a firefighter, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Sanders served for 25 years and was an active International Alliance for Firefighters (IAFF) Local 557 member.
The fire department said a public visitation for Sanders will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13 at Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Drive. The memorial service will begin promptly at 11 a.m.
The fire department asks that guests and the media refrain from any photographs or videos in the church.
