BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a reported garage fire late on Thursday night at 3919 Claycut Rd.

Around 11:10 p.m., firefighters found “the unattached garage at the rear of the house was fully engulfed in flames,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, five pumpers and one ladder.

BRFD said, “crews began protecting nearby structures while crews placed the fire under control.”

The fire was put under control in less than 10 minutes.

The structure sustained $60,000 in damages and the garage is considered a total loss.

The home was left with some heat damage.

There were no reported injuries as the four occupants were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived at the scene, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Investigators are still working to figure out how the fire started at this location.

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
