Traffic on Tuesday morning in Baton Rouge was bad in many places.
The video shows what it looked like on the 1-10 East Ramp from Port Allen after 5 a.m.
According to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, “a truck hauling gasoline rolled onto the railing on the 1-10 East Ramp from Port Allen.”
This scene unfolded throughout the early morning hours on Tuesday and the exit ramp remains closed.
LDEQ released this statement about the accident:
Several thousand gallons of gasoline was spilled. Cleanup crews were able to contain the spill in culverts and ditches. The truck was removed from the ramp about 2 a.m. As of 3 a.m., an environmental services company was removing the residual gasoline from ditches and culverts. Areas where the product impacted soil will require soil removal for remediation, and that work continues. The interstate ramp has been reopened.
