George Floyd once employed as security guard for Big Freedia

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — A New Orleans icon is remembering George Floyd, a man who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis.

Big Freedia posted a statement to her social media platforms on Monday, saying Floyd was employed by her as a security guard.

Freedia called Floyd a true professional.

“He was kind and gentle,” Freedia said.

She also said Floyd would joke about her taking him on the road with her for shows.

Freedia also addressed police brutality in the statement, calling for change.
