Girls on the Run South Louisiana has transitioned to an online format to continue promoting the physical health and wellbeing of local girls during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The group is providing online programming to 500 local girls participating in the 10-week spring program, according to Girls on the Run South Louisiana spokesperson Carley Fuller.

“GOTR at Home lessons provide girls of all abilities the tools to develop critical life skills and to remain physically active and engaged during the Stay at Home Order in Louisiana,” Fuller wrote. “GOTR at Home lessons are available in an easy-to-follow written format so girls and their grown-ups can participate together and as a YouTube video series specifically for girls.”

GOTR at Home resources are intended specifically for girls enrolled in the program and their families, but the digital campaign #GOTRGotYourBack provides tips ans activities for everyone.

Rather than having the Girls on the Run 5k as planned, the group will hold the Virtual Girls on the Run 5k on Saturday, May 30. Participants can choose their own starting time and location, Fuller wrote.
