After a local Golden Corral temporarily closed due to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ stay-at-home order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the restaurant donated more than 5,000 pounds of food to the Salvation Army of Baton Rouge.
The donation should help alleviate the significant food shortage caused by shelter quarantines, according to the Salvation Army.
The Baton Rouge shelter is at capacity, but residents will receive three meals each day with the help of Golden Corral’s donation.
The shelter also partnered with Baton Rouge schools to provide meals to those affected by school closures.
