The residents of Gonzales Healthcare celebrated Fat Tuesday on Feb. 25 with a festive Mardi Gras parade of their own.

Each year, the residents of Gonzales Healthcare vote on a King and Queen for their carnival celebration. The votes are tallied on Lundi Gras and the King and Queen are announced the morning of the Mardi Gras parade. This year, the Gonzales Healthcare Krewe was lead by King Calvin McMorris and Queen Edna Johnson.

“Our Mardi Gras parade was a celebration for the books,” said Yiesha January, administrator of the facility. “The residents truly enjoyed seeing their families and friends along the parade route.”

The Krewe, dressed in purple, green and gold, tossed throws to the crowd along their route around the facility. The carnival event was full of Mardi Gras masks, beautiful beads and decorated posters.

Once the parade ended, residents, families and staff enjoyed live music, dancing, cake, ice cream and punch.
