Gonzales man arrested after hitting APSO deputy with ATV

APSO detectives arrested a Gonzales man on Tuesday after an ATV incident that occurred on Sunday, April 19, just after 2 a.m.

Joey Joffrion, 35, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, hit and run driving, and off-road vehicle violations after striking a deputy with an ATV during an incident in the area of Rotterdam Road in Gonzales.

Deputies responded to burglary alarm in the area and found Joffrion driving extremely reckless in an ATV in a subdivision. Deputies attempted to stop the ATV with lights and sirens, but Joffrion refused to stop. Joffrion stuck a deputy, causing the deputy to need hospital transport and treatment for significant injuries.

Joffrion fled the scene after striking the deputy, and was not located on the day of the incident. He later agreed to turn himself in to APSO, and was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set.
