Gonzales man commits a hit and run on a building in Monroe

Deputies arrested a Gonzales man for committing a hit and run on a building at 1612 Winnsboro Road.

The store owner told authorities someone had run into her store front, resulting in damaging the window and the front of the store.

Deputies also spoke to a witness who said he had given directions to a local hotel to the suspect and provided a description of him and his vehicle. 

Deputies went to the hotel and found the vehicle described by the witness drive into the parking lot.

Deputies spoke with the driver, identified as Manuel DeJesus Luna, 42, of Gonzales, La. 

He admitted to being at the location on Winnsboro Road and getting directions from the witness but denied being involved in an accident.

Deputies located shards of glass in the rear of the truck as well as several concrete smoothing machines which were also seen surveillance video from the store.

Luna was transported to OCC.

He was charged with hit and run driving (misdemeanor).

His bond was set at $500.
