Gov. Edwards: “We could soon receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which is positive news

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Thursday, Governor John Bel Edwards announced the state’s COVID-19 cases are trending downward as more people receive the vaccine.

Edwards said, they now have some visibility into what’s actually happening and it appears to be improving.

As many people seek to get their hands on a vaccine, officials say don’t shop around and get any vaccine that’s made available to you.

“Don’t do it. There would be a strategic error. The first chance someone has to get vaccinated, take that chance” said the State’s Health Officer for the Department of Health, Dr. Joe Kanter.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine could be on its way to the state as soon as next week. gaining support from the FDA.

“I’m convinced that if the FDA issue the emergency use authorization for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine that it too will be safe and effective. I think these are the early signs now that the vaccinations are making a difference in our numbers” said Edwards.
