Guatemalan man arrested on immigration charge also wanted for sex crimes

BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) — An Guatemalan citizen arrested on immigration charges Wednesday in Livingston Parish is also wanted for sex crimes in East Baton Rouge Parish, federal customs agents said Friday.

Pascual Mas-Xocholij, 40, faces counts of forcible rape and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. City of Walker police transferred him into the custody of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s Baton Rouge Station.

Mas-Xocholij initially provided police with a fraudulent name. Customs investigators later verified the suspect’s identity.

“For the third time in the past few months New Orleans Border Patrol worked closely with a local department, this time the excellent Walker PD, to arrest an illegal alien accused of bringing harm to our most precious resource – our children,” New Orleans Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino said in a statement.

Mas-Xocholij is currently in the custody of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. He faces deportation upon release from jail.
