PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – What started out as a simple wish to help a friend during the holiday season has turned into so much more for a local toddler and her mother.
Darcey Aguillard and her daughter Hailey live in West Baton Rouge Parish and a few years ago a parent of one of Hailey’s friends asked for help with Christmas so a post was made on Facebook just to see if they could round up some gently used items.
What happened next caught the duo by surprise.
So many items ended up on their front porch that they decided to help others too.
A tradition was started and the mother and daughter have been doing this every year.
Their yearly tradition has hit a bit of a snag this year as donations have not been what they had hoped they would be.
It is still early in the holiday season, and the duo hopes that they can get some help from the community in order to help those who are less fortunate.
If you are interested in making a donation, all of the information you need is here.
Donations will go directly to families in need within the parish.
As you can see by this Facebook page, Christmas is not the only time of year that the local toddler tries to help the community.
The mother and daughter are collecting toys until December 20.
If you would like to donate a gift, you can do so directly at 3944 Treuil Rd.
