Hammond PD arrest alleged armed robber outside bank and suspect in robbery at seafood restaurant

HAMMOND, La. (BRPROUD) – The Hammond Police Department has been busy over the last week.

HPD is reporting two arrests that were recently made in the city limits.

The first case involves an attempted armed robbery that allegedly took place on August 12 outside of the Pelican Credit Union.

The alleged incident took place in the parking lot and HPD says, “after reviewing security footage, detectives identified the suspect as Stevie Wright, 57 years old of Hammond.”

The 57-year-old man was already in custody and is now facing one count of attempted armed robbery in connection with this incident outside the bank.

The second incident took place on August 17 at Michael’s Seafood.

This investigation centered around a burglary that allegedly took place at the establishment.

According to the Hammond Police Department, “During the course of the investigation, Kevin Williams, 59 years old of Hammond, was identified as the suspect.”

Williams was apprehended with the help of the Louisiana State Police.

The 59-year-old man is facing one count of simple burglary.
