Healing Place Church stepping up during Hurricane Ida recovery


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – It has been eleven days since Hurricane Ida came ashore in Louisiana.

Recovery is still ongoing for many in the state and a local church is doing their part to help out.

Healing Place Church continues to reach out to those affected by Hurricane Ida.

Johnny Green is an Assistant Pastor at Healing Place Church and he joined our Zach Labbe on NBC Local 33.

Green spoke about what the church has been doing in places like Hammond.

Between 500 and 600 volunteers from Baton Rouge, Hammond, Laplace, Houma, and New Orleans are joining the effort.

As of Thursday, Healing Place Church has helped almost 80 households and distributed over 500 tarps.

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank has also partnered with the Healing Church.

Together, they have given out over 2,800 boxes of food and 2,400 cooled meals.
