BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Along with ushering in the new year comes the list of resolutions – goals we set to build toward or achieve over the next 365 days. A lot of people in the capital area say they’re looking forward to a new start in 2023, and there are three common goals: fitness, wealth and traveling.

“I had a lot of trials and tribulations,” said Danielle Lovely, a resident of Baton Rouge. Last year was full of lessons for her. She noted the year was rough overall.

She’s not the only one who had some lows.

“2022 had some downs, but I had a lot of ups,” said Whitney Nixon, a friend of Lovely.

From inflation to COVID-19, Darius Boykins says he’s glad the year is over and confident about the upcoming year. “I mean, I’m feeling great, always feeling great,’ he continued.

Many Baton Rouge residents say their New Year’s resolution is to win in two major areas — health and finance.

“To make sure I’m in the very best self. That can be it for me and my children. Also get them an excellent health too,’ smiled Lovely.

“So my plan is to stress less work, less work smarter. And as she said earlier, get this money,” emphasized Nixon.

Boykins says after losing his father and sister in the past year. His goal this year is to stay focused.

“Anything that you believe that you want to do, you can’t do. You know, you don’t. Don’t put a time limit on anything just because you might have set some goals and you didn’t meet it at a certain time, period. It doesn’t mean you still can’t achieve it,” he said.
