HeART Trail launches to promote heart health in Baton Rouge

News

The heART trails project, which uses existing infrastructure to develop heart-shaped walking trails around Baton Rouge, will officially launch its downtown site on Valentine’s Day.

Dufroqc Elementary School students created art for the trail while they learned about the circulatory system, and they will be recognized Friday by Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, school board members, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation representatives and Baton Rouge General Foundation members, according to the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

The public is invited to participate in a heART Stroll Friday at noon and can walk on a 5k trail for either part or all of its entirety. The trailhead is “Sing the River” Rotary sculpture at Florida Boulevard, according to the Arts Council.
