BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The annoyance of having one’s work commute interrupted by a flat tire is an occurrence most drivers are familiar with.

It happened to one woman as she driving along I-10 West Monday (August 22) morning, and not only did the flat impede her journey, but it reportedly sent her vehicle into a dangerous spin.

The woman said the incident left her shaking and traumatized.

Fortunately, she wasn’t left stranded on the side of the highway.

Sgt. Jesse Hale of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) happened to be headed to work when he saw she needed help. So, he stopped to change her tire and make sure she was okay.

EBRSO Sheriff Sid Gautreaux praised Hale for making the decision to step in and help, saying, “I’m grateful we have deputies that take the time to go out of their way to help those in need… I commend Sgt. Hale for stopping to help without even being asked.”

As public servants, it’s important that we have the heart and mindset to protect and serve all the time. I commend Sgt. Hale for stopping to help without even being asked.
