BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — This weekend a Baton Rouge church is hosting a conference to empower women from all walks of life in honor of Women’s History Month.
The conference called “Woman UP” aims to help Baton Rouge area women overcome their fears and obstacles, find their spiritual gifts, and fulfill their calling through faith and ministry.
About 200 women packed the sanctuary at the denim, diamonds, and dinner event Friday for a night of games, fellowship, and learning at the opening celebration of this two-day event.
United Christian faith ministries is a christ-centered ministry committed to bringing people of all races together.
“Our tagline for the weekend is “sis you got this” – “sis I got this”. So we want you to leave so confidently. That when you say “I got this” you’re not just saying it to build yourself up but you actually mean it,” said Mary Ellis, Host of Woman Up Conference.
Interactive sessions and panels start Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a pop-up shop hosted by women entrepreneurs. Sunday, gospel artist Kim Burrell is expected to speak at both the 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.
“It’s important for women to come together because we inspire each other. We were fearfully and wonderfully made by God. And he didn’t just make us just to be anything or to do anything. He created us with a purpose in mind,” said Dr. Terri Byrd, Woman Up Conference Committee.
Registration is open to the public. Click here or text “Woman Up” to 225-250-1970 for more information. The event is located at North Ridgewood Drive in Baton Rouge.
