BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department received a call about a fire a little after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6.
A fire was located at 2401 Laurel St.
“Firefighters arrived on scene and found that the two occupants had made it out safely and the carport and the side of the house on fire,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “They made their way into the home and were able to contain the fire to the side of the house near the carport.”
Firefighters put the fire out in a little over 20 minutes.
BRFD says, “They were able stop the spread of the fire but due to the heat of the fire, the home is total loss.”
Two vehicles were also destroyed in this early morning fire.
Fire investigators determined that “the cause of the fire is electrical.”
BRPD, EMS, Entergy and the Red Cross assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
