BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – The Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge
(HBAGBR) members contributed monetary resources and materials for the Home Builders Foundation’s (HBF) Inaugural Foundation House which helps raise money for children and families in need on Thursday, Dec. 9.

The HBF Foundation houses are sold at market value, its total giving has reached nearly $1 million for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

“The vision of the Foundation House started with our Home Builders Foundation mission to assist families and children in need along with our industry’s core competency – building homes,” said Karen Zito, HBA|GBR President and CEO. “Bart spearheaded on our first project and his innovation created a meaningful impact for all and a significant milestone for the work of HBA and HBF.”

“With the support of the HBF, I’m proud to present $75,000 to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in honor of my friends, the Aucoin Family.” Waguespack shared, “their strength has been an inspiration to me and so many others throughout Jacob’s journey.” Jacob Aucoin, eldest son of the Aucoin Family, is a frequent patient at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, having undergone several surgeries and countless inpatient visits.”

According to the news release, Bart Waguespack, Waguespack Homes, agreed to pioneer the Inaugural Foundation House and commit to raising a record-setting donation amount. The Waguespack Foundation House was finished and sold to a couple as their first home before the construction was completed.

“This incredible gift will be directed to the Excellence and Innovation Fund which allows strategic innovative investments in new and existing programs,” said Trey Dunbar, MD, president of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health. “Our mission calls us to serve those most in need and that begins with the smallest, most innocent among us: our children. Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital will continue to provide exceptional pediatric care, close to home.”
