BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Members of the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a barricade situation at Village De Province on Boulevard De Province.
BRPD believed that a home invasion suspect forced his way inside the apartment around 4:30 a.m. The occupants of the apartment where the suspect was thought to be barricaded were safe.
The situation came to an end when it was found that the suspect was not in the apartment, according to police. A warrant is out for this person.
Baton Rouge Police Officer Cpl. Darren Ahmed said the person is accused of home invasion involving a firearm in the early morning hours. BRPD said that “Officers were notified by anonymous tip that he went to parents residence.”
People in the area may have heard bangs during the ongoing situation. Ahmed said, “Those bangs could have been special tactics used by special response teams to get some kind of audio response if he is inside the residence.”
