Homeless man given shelter at hotel after photo of random act of kindness goes viral

A Lafayette homeless man has gone viral on social media this week after another man posted a photo of him helping a woman change a tire in the middle of the night on Monday.

Scott Landry posted the photo showing Randy Head helping change the tire. Landry says Head also used his own money to put air in the woman’s tire and to get her on her way.

“When your total net worth is $10.00 and you’re coming out of your pocket to pay for a strangers air in her tire it gives it a little more meaning.”

Landry posted a photo of the act of kindness on Facebook, where it was quickly shared hundreds of times.

When people started asking what they could do to help Head, Landry was quick to find out what he needed most, and Head said he just needed a place to stay and get out of the cold.

So Landry booked five nights at a nearby Red Roof Inn, allowing Head to avoid the frigid temperatures.

“I know that whenever you’re stuck out the real goal is to get you a week at a hotel room because that’s what I always wanted,” Landry said.

“I’m so surprised that people are surprised by random acts of kindness in this world these days we should do it more,” Head said.
