House and car burn on Henderson Ave. overnight, fire ruled arson

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a house fire around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, November 5.

The house fire was at a residence located in the 5600 block of Henderson Ave.

“Firefighters arrived on scene to find that a car and the house were on fire,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Members of the Baton Rouge Fire Department immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

BRFD says, “They made entry into the home to find the heavy fire in the kitchen, living room, and hallway.”

“According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “They were able to contain the fire to those areas but the rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage.”

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in ten minutes.

The home sustained $50,000 in damages.

BRFD says, “The house next door received some damage from the radiant heat.”

Fire investigators were called to the scene and determined that arson was the cause of the fire.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
