Hunting treestands recalled due to fall hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BRPROUD) — About 1,000 hunting treestands have been recalled after reports of falls and injuries.

The recall includes The Captain Hang-on Treestands from Big Game Treestands with model BGM-FP0050 (serial/batch number 2M-0121 only), according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall from CPSC explains hazards with this product are from the crimps of the plastic-coated cables which can cause slipping while using, causing the standing platform to release and the individual to fall.

This product has resulted in 10 falls and two injuries reported to GSM Outdoors, according to CPSC.

CPSC urges consumers to stop using this product and to contact Big Game Treestands for replacement cables or a full refund.

Consumers can contact Big Game Treestands at 877-343-8211 between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT during the weekdays or visit biggametreestands.com/safety-recall-notice/.
