‘I think I took it a little too far’: Boy, 12, arrested after beating dog with metal pipes, deputies say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WNCN) — Deputies in Florida arrested a juvenile after they say he beat up a dog with metal pipes, causing face and bodily injuries.

12-year-old Christopher Alveraz-Murillo was arrested Tuesday on one count of aggravated animal cruelty.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (Fla.) was advised that Alveraz-Murillo tied a dog up to a tree in the backyard of his home and beat it with a pipe.

While repairing a broken water pipe on Monday, a witness asked Alveraz-Murillo where ‘Tiny’, the dog, was.

Alveraz-Murillo told the witness Tiny was tied up in the backyard. The witness had Alveraz-Murillo show him where Tiny was tied up.

Twice Alveraz-Murillo attempted to run to the dog’s location to beat the witness there, but the witness made Alveraz-Murillo wait for him, deputies say.

When the witness approached Tiny in the backyard he found him unconscious, with a rope around his neck and blood on his face.

Alveraz-Murillo advised he tied Tiny to a tree in the backyard with a rope and began to discipline him by hitting Tiny with his hands and a stick.

He said he also hit Tiny with two silver metal pipes. The boy claims to have hit Tiny a total of 10 times in the face and body.

Upon being arrested, deputies say Alveraz-Murillo told them that he “took it a little too far”.

Tiny is being evaluated medically by Animal Services, but thankfully seems to be recovering well, deputies say.
