BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) Gov. John Bel Edwards gave an update on Hurricane Ida prior to it hitting Baton Rouge on Sunday, August 29. This is the third media briefing Edwards has done on Hurricane Ida.

Edwards said that if sheltering in place, stay away from windows.
Edwards stressed staying in place for the next three days after the storm. Edwards suggested placing a mattress nearby in case of falling debris.
There are rescue efforts in place with national guardsmen working across 14 parishes to help residents. They have boats, helicopters and trucks.
If residents have evacuated, do not come back until roads are safe.
