BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — During the Women’s Basketball NCAA Championship game, Governor John Bel Edwards and Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds placed a friendly bet on the winner of the game on Sunday, April 2.
Reynolds kept her end of the deal and will send Gov. Edwards a dozen pork chops and will send over 1,250 pounds of pork to local food banks, according to a tweet from Edward’s spokesperson.
Prior to the tip-off of the championship game, Edwards tweeted to Reynolds that he would bet some Louisiana Boudin that the Tigers and Coach Kim Mulkey win the championship.
Gov. Reynolds replied by saying she would bet some Iowa Pork that the Hawkeyes would win.
After the Tigers beat the Hawkeyes winning their first NCAA Championship in program history, Gov. Edwards tweeted, “Can’t wait for Louisiana red beans and rice with fried Iowa pork chops! Geaux Lady Tigers!”
