Southern University’s Jordan Lewis has been named to the Black College Football Player of the Year watch list for the second straight year.

Four finalists are announced at the end of the season. Last year, Lewis found himself in that position for the prestigious award after racking up 5.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.

Entering 2022, he finds himself carving out a new role in the Jaguar defense. He’s played both linebacker and defensive end in training camp to give his team multiple personnel groupings to throw at opposing teams.

“I think it gives him a great opportunity,” Head Coach Eric Dooley said. “For the young man that’s so athletic that I really think he can play any position he put his mind to.”
