BELLE ROSE, La. (BRPROUD) – A traffic stop leading to a high-speed chase ended with the arrest of Cory Michael Gros, 41, of Paincourtville, on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Prior to his arrest, Gros reportedly led deputies on a pursuit along Louisiana 1 near Belle Rose. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said Gros went more than 20 mph over the speed limit during the pursuit.

“The vehicle continued on for some distance until deputies were able to stop him,” according to APSO.

Once stopped, Gros was taken into custody and reportedly refused to speak with deputies.

A “K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance,” according to APSO.

Deputies then found suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Gros was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
  • Flight from an officer
  • Speeding
  • Insurance
  • Expired driver’s license
  • Detainer – department of corrections – probation violator

Bond has not been set.
