BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is welcoming its newest member, K-9 Rush.

EBRSO says, “Rush is a three-year-old Belgian Malinois and he will be patrolling with his partner Sgt. Cody Grace.”

So what did K-9 Rush have to go through before joining the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office?

EBRSO says the K-9’s “do a minimum of 480 hours of USPCA training (approximately 12 months depending on weather) and certify at USPCA trials before hitting the streets.”

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office lists some of the other training that K-9 Rush will receive below:

  • Criminal apprehension
  • Tracking
  • Article searches

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit has been around for 14 years.
