Kids’ Orchestra’s Honors Program brings students together from all across East Baton Rouge Parish

The Kids’ Orchestra’s Honors Program kicked off it’s seventh annual program with it’s first November practice this week.

The Kids’ Orchestra Honors Program will be running from November 2019 to May 2020, with practices twice a month at McKinley Middle Magnet School.

Bringing students together from all over East Baton Rouge Parish, the group has the opportunity to practice advanced musical repertoire, perform in a large ensemble setting and make new friends.

“Our Honors Program has a long tradition of not only preparing students to continue with their musical studies, but also in helping to bridge differences through music-making.” said Kids’ Orchestra Education Director Sam Trevathan. “We are proud of these results and hope to continue supporting East Baton Rouge Parish students’ musical endeavors, high achievement, and cross-school collaboration.” 

Kids’ Orchestra’s programming, including the Honors Program, is supported by a number of generous supporters , including the Capital Area United Way, Aetna for a Better Louisiana, John Turner and Jerry Fischer and Zachary Community School District.
