The Consul General of Belgium Mr. William De Baets and Major Morris

EBRSO Major Todd Morris was honored by the Kingdom of Belgium for his work in the 2011 homicide investigation of Sylviane Finck at an event Tuesday in Baton Rouge.

The Consul General of Belgium, Mr. William De Baets, presented Morris with a prestigious award from Belgium King Philippe declaring him “Knight from the Order of the Crown.” The award is only awarded for significant contributions to the country.

Sylviane’s siblings Ghislaine and Andre Finck traveled from Belgium to attend the event.

“The Baton Rouge police, in particular, Todd Morris, conducted this investigation directly, with great professionalism and exceptional determination,” Ghislaine Finck said at the event.

“I’m so proud of the work done by Major Morris and his division in this lengthy and difficult investigation,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, who also attended the event, said. “This case highlights the dedication and commitment our investigators have in working all their cases. I’m grateful for the Belgian King’s recognition of Major Morris.”
