Krewe of Orion rolls downtown Feb. 15, ending inside the River Center

BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA/WGMB) — The Krewe of Orion celebrates its 22nd annual Mardi Gras season in 2020. The theme this year is “2020 vision.”

Starting at 6:30 p.m., the parade will roll from the corner of Government St. and St. Philips Rd. The parade will travel down River Road, past the Pentagon Barracks, turning right on 3rd Street.

“Float members have been encouraged to load up on throws which include many Orion branded lighted and non-lighted throws,” said Krewe of Orion float lieutenant Chris Rosendahl. “We are known for our polystone beads thrown each year.” Polystone is a compound made up largely of polyurethane resin mixed with powdered stone additives to give a stone-like finish.

Doors open for the masquerade party at 7 p.m. at the Raising Cane’s River Center. The krewe and their floats will eventually travel west on Convention St. before turning right on River Road and entering the River Center. The parade will end inside the masquerade party.
