BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday arrested a Thibodaux man who had been wanted for an alleged sex crime since December 2020.

Deputies arrested 41-year-old Ronald Tyler Jr. on active warrants after a traffic stop.

When deputies tried to pull over his vehicle on Ridgefield Road in Thibodaux, Tyler allegedly refused to stop, and he continued driving until he reached his house. Tyler reportedly tried to flee on foot from deputies after parking in his driveway, but deputies quickly apprehended him, according to LPSO.

Back in December 2020, the Thibodaux Police Department received arrest warrants for Tyler, who was wanted on the charges of first-degree rape, home invasion and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Tyler was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on the charges from 2020, as well as new charges of flight from an officer and resisting an officer. His bail is set at $782,000.
