BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has issued a statement about multiple fights that happened at Scotlandville Magnet High School Thursday, Nov. 10.

The fight started with two students but escalated as the crowd began to grow. It was believed shots were fired, but officials confirmed that was inaccurate.

We were able to confirm there was no shooting. At approximately 1:00 pm today, there was an altercation at Scotlandville Magnet High School that initially involved two students fighting. As the surrounding group grew larger, several other individual fights broke out, and security officers had to break them up. It is estimated that 10-12 students were physically involved in the altercations. Those students have been taken to the office to call their parents and sign suspension procedure paperwork. These students may face additional disciplinary action based on district policy.  Students were told to stay in their classes until dismissal time and students will depart campus one building at a time.
