Late night fire at local grocery store ruled arson

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a fire at Kim Grocery on Monday night.

Firefighters arrived at 945 East Blvd. at 10:48 p.m. and found “fire on the ground in front of the store and smoke coming from the building.”

BRFD immediately went to work putting the fire out.

It took firefighters 30 minutes to extinguish the fire with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

Baton Rouge fire investigators were summoned to the scene.

Investigators determined that arson was the cause of this late night fire.

The grocery sustained $200,000 in damages.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
