BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana Department of Health confirms that 15 people who were residents of the nursing homes owned by Bob Dean have died.
The number of storm-related deaths in this case remains the same.
The storm in question is Hurricane Ida and five of the fifteen deaths are considered storm-related.
The other ten confirmed deaths were not storm-related, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
The coroners decide what qualifies as a storm-related death.
There is still the possibility of additional deaths being labeled storm-related in the future.
According to LDH, “As time passes and given the health conditions that required a nursing home level of care, unfortunately the number of deaths among this group is likely to increase.”
