LDH: Number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals goes down for second day in a row

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – There has been an increase of 41 deaths in the state since Thursday, Jan. 21.

There are 1,937 new coronavirus cases in the state, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The Louisiana Department of Health also reported that there have been 8,483 deaths total in the state from the novel coronavirus.

There are now 334,769 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Louisiana, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

There are now 1,747 COVID-19 patients in hospitals. This is down from 1,800 only 24 hours ago.

The Louisiana Department of Health is providing updated COVID-19 death numbers for parishes in the state:

Ascension – 135
East Baton Rouge – 653
Livingston – 149
Pointe Coupee – 63
Tangipahoa – 220
West Baton Rouge – 50
West Feliciana – 28

There have been a total of 5,047,987 total tests, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

As of January 18, 320,025 people are presumed to have recovered from COVID-19.
