PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – A guilty verdict has come in over five years after 27-year-old Clarence Harvey, of Prairieville was shot and killed.

Donovan Darville, 32, of Prairieville was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the shooting death of Clarence Harvey.

Deputies were called to a reported shooting in Prairieville on April 18, 2017.

After arriving at the home where the shooting took place, “deputies located Clarence Harvey suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body,” according to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The 27-year-old died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

An investigation ensued including interviews with witnesses. Based on those interviews and evidence found at the scene, deputies determined that Donovan Darville was the shooter in this case.

APSO says, “Detectives learned that Darville and Harvey had an argument sometime before the day of the shooting.”

On the day of the shooting, Darville shot towards Harvey after finding him at the home.

Darville did not stay at the shooting scene.

APSO says that “Darville was subsequently apprehended and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.”

Sentencing for Donovan Darville could happen on September 12.

Darville could spend the rest of his life in jail after the 2nd Degree Murder conviction.
