BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) – The Greater Baton Rouge Fair is just a few days away and many organizations benefit from the money made to better our community. The fair foundation has donated over $4.2 million dollars since beginning this program in 1987.

Line4Line is a grassroots non-profit organization that works through barbershops to support literacy and close the achievement gap by building self-esteem and providing positive learning opportunities for youth through mentor led out-of-school reading and creative programs.

Over the past six years Line4Line, has provided more 3,000 free haircuts, over 4500 books into homes and an onsite 24/7 accessible Little Free Library.

The fair was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn’t stop the organization from serving more than 1,000 children during the summer. The fair foundation were still able to give money for the summer of 2020 and the organization was able to serve children on a smaller and safer scale.

The 55th annual state fair starts Thursday, October 28th and runs through Sunday, November 7th.
