LIST: Latest on road closures and openings in the area

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The last day or so has been a challenging for many motorists in the area.

For some, getting around town is still a challenge on Wednesday morning.

Below you will find the latest information on road openings and closures:

OPENINGS:

ASCENSION PARISH:

Motorist are now allowed to travel LA 928/Bluff Rd. Barricades are still in place as a precaution.

Drivers should be cautious of standing pockets of water on portions of the roadway.

  • LA 934 is now open.
  • LA 935 is now open.

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that both directions of I-10 between Highland Rd and Siegen Ln are now open. After heavy overnight rains on Monday May 17,2021, both directions of I-10 between Siegen Lane and Highland Road were closed due to water flooding the roadway.

Although all lanes are now open, motorists should remain alert for any remaining water on the road.

CLOSURES:

ASCENSION PARISH:

The Bayou Manchac Bridge on Old Perkins at the EBR line is currently closed to traffic.

There is heavy traffic congestion in the area. Please use alternate route until further notice.

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises that LA 42 Westbound (Burbank Dr) at Highland Road/Siegen Lane is experienceing high water.

This area will continue to be monitored and updates will be issued if the roadway becomes impassable and a closure is required.

IBERVILLE PARISH:

There is a single lane closure on LA 75 near JR Dr., 1-mile south of the Bayou Sorrel Bridge, due to high water.

Temporary traffic signals are in place to help guide traffic through the area.

Drivers should be cautious of standing pockets of water on portions of the roadway.

Please never attempt to drive through high water, even if it appears to be shallow. Also, remember to never drive around ‘road closed’ barricades at any time for any reason.

DOTD will advise when the water has receded and the roadway has been reopened.

I-10 eastbound and westbound on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in St. Martin and Iberville Parishes will have alternating lane closures for a sweeping operation on the following nights.

• Sunday, May 23 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, May 24 at 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

• Monday, May 24 at 9:00 p.m. until Tuesday, May 25 at 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

All permit and oversize loads along with emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass.
