LIVINGSTON, La. (FOX 44) (LOCAL 33) The Lovett family has relied on faith through many of the recent deaths they have had in their family.
Just when they thought they could catch a break, the unthinkable happened.
“All we could do is stand around and watch it burn,” Chiasson said.
The house is a total loss.
“The whole house was engulfed the kids were jumping over fire, and running through smoke trying to get animals out of the house,” Chiasson said.
All seven family members and their dogs made it out safely. A bird was killed, and a cat with kittens is still unaccounted for.
“Nothing else matters if we don’t have our family so the fact that they are all standing here safe and sound, it’s just a miracle,” Chiasson.
All that’s left are a few beams standing. The beams donning bible verses written by their loved ones who have recently passed.
My grandparents were praying people and they went through and wrote the scriptures.
Those beams, Chiasson believes saved their lives.
“The fire spread up through the attic and those studs that are still standing with those scriptures may very well have saved their lives giving time for all seven people time to get out of the house unharmed,” Chiasson said.
Many sentimental items at the Lovett home are now gone. The family is now left to rake through the rubble.
“We kind of think of everything lost and you can’t really replace it but we’ll get there eventually,” Rebeckah Lovett said.
Despite losing everything, the family is held together with faith.
