BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Pelican Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors will host Workforce Feeding Frontlines on Thursday, May 28 where Merit Shop construction workforce and other ABC Pelican Members will prepare and deliver nearly 3,000 meals to frontline workers fighting COVID-19.
“Since the pandemic hit our state, ABC Pelican and its members have actively sought ways to serve the healthcare community however we could,” David Helveston, President and CEO of ABC Pelican. “From PPE donations to serving meals to volunteering, our members have stepped up and met the need. We look forward to bringing many of our members together in a safe, socially distanced environment to show these frontline healthcare heroes how grateful we are for their dedication and service.”
The event will take place at the open lot on the Baton Rouge General Campus at Bluebonnet Blvd. and Picardy Ave. The construction industry workers will start cooking at 5:30 a.m., assemble meals at 9:00 a.m. and start delivery at 11 a.m.
“ABC Pelican Members enjoy giving back to the communities that we build, and one way we do this well is by cooking,” said Carlos Guidry of Turner Industries, who serves as the 2020 Chair of the ABC Pelican Board. “As the voice of the Merit Shop Construction Industry across Louisiana, we say, ‘thank you’ to the men and women who are ensuring we win the fight against COVID-19.”
