Fireworks for the July 4th celebration at the Gateway Arch during Fair St. Louis

WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – July 4th is three days away and so is the potential for bad weather.

The possibility of a lot of rain and the condition of the parking area is forcing the City of Walker to cancel its July 4th Celebration.

The full statement from the City of Walker can be seen below:

The City of Walker has cancelled the July 4th Celebration at Sidney Hutchinson Park due to the weather forecast predicting 80% chance of rainfall. The Walker area has been inundated lately with tremendous amounts of rainfall, and a lot of the parking area for this venue is in grass fields. The grass fields are saturated due to the excessive rainfall, which has rendered them unusable for this event. The fireworks portion of this event has been rescheduled for December 18, 2021, during our Christmas Parade and Santa at the Park events. The live music portion of this event has been rescheduled for October 30, 2021 during our Fall Festival Event. We apologize for any inconvenience this decision has created.

The Walker Independence Day Celebration was scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
